About

The Humans and Hyenas Alliance (HAHA) was developed from collaborative research on human-carnivore coexistence led by Dr. Christine Wilkinson for her dissertation (beginning in 2016), working alongside community members in Nakuru County, Kenya, and colleagues at Soysambu Conservancy, Kenya Wildlife Service, and Egerton University. To date, the project has been based in Lake Nakuru National Park, Soysambu Conservancy, and the surrounding communities. However, HAHA is open for partnerships and expansion. It takes teamwork to achieve coexistence.

Currently, we are working with The Peregrine Fund to develop a research project regarding the relationship between scavenging species and people, supported by the National Geographic Society. The National Geographic Society is also supporting capacity building and community engagement, with an aim toward training long-term Kenyan leaders and collaborators for the Humans and Hyenas Alliance.
